KARACHI: Sabika Sheikh, the Pakistani exchange student who was shot dead in Texas high school, was laid to rest in Azeempura graveyard here on Wednesday morning.
The funeral prayers attended by a large number of people from all walks of life of the slain student were performed amid tight security at the Hakeem Saeed ground.
Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and members of civil society joined the last rituals of Sabika, whose body had earlier arrived Karachi via Turkish Airlines at 4am.
“We have to get serious and without holding anyone responsible we will have to understand that terrorism is an issue for all,” Sheikh’s cousin said to the media after the funeral procession was held. “The coming generations have to survive in the world. If we don’t join against terrorism, each passing day will prove to be more difficult than the last.”
